Balance Druid Leveling Tips

In my humble opinion leveling as a Balance Druid can be just as fast as leveling Feral, if not faster. I've run a Balance Druid from level 1 up to the high 70's at this point and I'll tell you it's really not bad. In fact it's a lot of fun, it helps you get good at the build and you get to make a lot of flashy lights and big crits. This build benefits more from a thoughtful approach over a hack and slash approach to its play. Here are four tips to keep in mind to really blast through the levels!

First of all, and this applies to any and all classes, get your First Aid skill has high as possible. It's not hard to do, it's basically free as you'll pick up cloth along the way and it costs no mana. As you can image the proper use of your mana is a key point in successful Balance build leveling. Once you've got your First Aid skill up you can very quickly and easily heal yourself and others in your group while you regenerate mana at the same time. I went for a long time with out touching First Aid with my first toon and after I got the hang of it I was kicking my self for not doing it earlier. Do it and you'll be a happy puppy. Don't do it and you will never know what you are missing.

Secondly be a control freak. Even in with the heavy armor boost you will get from the Moonkin form you are not indestructible. Do not go running into situations with your head up your butt especially considering the antlers in Moonkin....ouch!). Your job is to identify the target and take it down as fast as Druidly possible. In a solo situation you want to be in a one on one fight. In a group situation you want to be on DPS not tank. When things get out of control, and they will, clamp down on the situation. If you get an unexpected add root it immediately. If something jumps you out of the blue pop Instant Grasp and get out of there. Reset yourself, assess the situation and resume casting. The Balance Druid makes a better laser than a shotgun, especially at the lower levels.

Thirdly pour on the speed. When allocating your talent points your first two priorities are the damage of each spell you cast and how fast you can cast it. The faster you can get your Wrath and Starfire spells of the faster the mob goes down. It's that simple. When facing another caster the more often you hit him with your own spells the better chance you have of interrupting his casting. When the opportunity presents itself for Haste, either through buff, enhancement or gear choice, take it. Finally the obvious one. Be very careful with your mana. Learn to use your pool efficiently as a Moonkin with no mana is just a big funny looking owlbear waving a stick around. The best way to conserve mana, beyond your talent choices, is to use bear and cat form. I know, it sounds weird, but use them as a stop over. In form you can continue to fight while your mana regens.
